Curriculum Overview

The journey through secondary education in England is structured around two key stages: Key Stage 3

(KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

In Years 7 to 9 pupils complete KS3.

This key stage provides pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum based on the Department of Education’s National Curriculum. It includes core subjects such as English, mathematics, and science, alongside humanities, languages, arts, and physical education. All Secondary schools follow a similar curriculum at key stage 3 laying the foundation for more specialised study in Year 10.

In Year 10 and 11 pupils complete KS 4. This key stage builds on the foundation of key stage 3 as pupils begin to focus on subjects leading to formal qualifications. These include GCSEs and vocational courses, assessed by major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC Eduqas.

This section of the website offers guidance and resources to help pupils, parents navigate the curriculum and understand the pathways available at each stage.
